Program Philosophy

It is our job as coaches to structure the most efficient and productive football program in the area. We will display extreme pride in coaching our players and we will display extreme pride in Moanalua High School. Each player will be treated as a human being first, student second and athlete third. We will work under these three main concepts, we call it the "BIG THREE".

1. Build championships through building champions! (person first)

a. Our staff will commit to winning as a team on the field by
creating winners in life! The most important aspect of
our program is the teaching of life skills and the
development of character.

b. We will teach sound quality scheme, teach sound
fundamental football technique and we will teach
sound "life skills"

c. We will help each player reach their highest potential as
a human being.

d. We will focus on teaching our players how to grow into
great men, men who will be productive citizens in
society, men who will learn how to love and cherish
all the blessings in their life and give back.

2. Create a positive learning environment for our student athletes both academically and athletically. (Student Second)

a. Our staff will maintain a consistent high standard of teaching at all times. Ultimately our success will depend on how capable we are as quality teachers. We will teach and positively reinforce the fundamental skills that enable our players to be their best academically.

b. Our staff will take tremendous pride in preparing our team in a positive manner with the highest level of integrity to create opportunities for our players to excel in the classroom.

c. Our program will offer mandatory year round study hall, academic tutoring and mandatory SAT/ACT prep courses for all Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors.

d. Academic performance determines the amount of playing time that each player will receive during the game.

3. "Success is a Journey, not a destination!" (Athlete third)

a. Winning is very important but it is not the only outcome of competition. Participation in sport provides a process that is equally important to winning.

b. Experiences athletically and academically that our players go through while participating in our football program will be lessons that will travel with each of them for the rest of their lives.

c. We will offer year round opportunities to improve individual skill acquisition and motor development. We have a very sport specific training regimen designed to maximize each player's potential athletically.

ATTITUDE

BY CHARLES SWINDOLL

"The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. It is more important than the past, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company…a church…a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past… we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play it on the one string we have, and that is our attitude… I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you.. we are in charge of our ATTITUDES."

DO THE LITTLE THINGS IN YOUR LIFE WITH THE RIGHT ATTITUDE, THEY MAKE THE BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BEING GOOD AND BEING GREAT!
